The design museum: The future is here

Prior to starting the first week at Ravensbourne I visited The Design Museum focusing on the exhibition The future is here. I really enjoyed exploring the museum and it was a real eye opener into what our future is going to be like. My first initial reaction was the great big flashing sign that I encountered whilst walking up the stairs. “The future is here/ The future was here” I found this to be very powerful and instantly you knew what the exhibition was trying to present.
It was very fascinating to find out different elements of the future and what is actually available today however with the world we live in it is not possible to have all the wonderful machines and objects we have invented due to money. For example the light bulb that lasts forever; this would not be practical in the world of business due to the way that we all rely on money. Even if the light bulb was very expensive this would not compensate for the lack of money the business would gain due to not having to replace the bulb.  I really liked the idea of the biodegradable shoe although I wonder if it would actually work as the shoe could start to degrade whilst you are wearing it, and this wouldn't be a good look. Upon further exploring the museum I found many interesting facts of the past as well as the future. I was unaware that our coins all put together made a picture which was I was curious to see and also inspired me in many ways to find out more about our country leading me to learn about the euro and the different images on each countries version. I really enjoyed the museum and definitely enjoyed it fully, alongside the views that surrounded it.
